To start the Power Tiller by hand, the control handle is pulled up to the maximum throttle position, the fuel tank switch is opened and the decompression handle is turned to its decompression position. The operator then swings the crankshaft quickly with the start handle and puts the decompression handle down once the injector is heard, and the diesel engine starts.
